Often called the Gateway to the Gulf of Mexico. 8 mile stretch of river leading to the Gulf. Manatee are common in the winter months. Live bait fish are good for large mouth bass. Shrimp and small spinners are good for bream and mangrove snapper fish.
Homosassa River fishing is home to both fresh
water and salt water fish.
Best known for an over-wintering area for manatees. The water is clear and often Capt. Steve and his anglers can see the fish they are after.
Spring flows at a constant temperature of 72º. 600 hundred gallons of fresh water is pumped in daily from more than 30 natural springs. Is an ideal habitat for hungry fish. Trout, Red Fish, Mullet and Mangrove Snapper are common in the Chrystal River area.
Unspoiled habitat serves as breeding ground for abundant fish. 5 miles of pristine, natural river. Most of the river is shallow but Capt. Steve's Jandy boat maneuvers well in the Chassahowitzka river. Marine sport fish are present during cooler weather. Bass and shell cracker fish are best during the Spring.
Known at the "Crooked River", Withlacoochee River is a 141 mile river. The lower portion of Withlacoochee River empties into the Gulf of Mexico. Bass, Bluegill, Shell cracker and spotted sunfish (stump knockers) are favorites with Captain Steve and Chummy Charters. During cooler months trout, Snapper, Red Fish and tarpon venture up the river. Old Indian saying of the river is "Dark and Deep".

Great way to enjoy a day on the water during hot summer days on the pristine grass flats of Citrus County. With basic snorkeling gear, you can jump right in for catch. Best to go in morning, as Capt. Steve usually gets his limits quick. (July – September). Book your trip early, as this is a busy time for fishing charters.

From July 1st to September 24th, seafood lovers from all over the United States come to Homosassa and Crystal River to find these mouthwatering morsels. The bag limit is 2 gallons of whole scallops per person.
Scalloping is a combination of snorkeling and wading. Captain Steve recommends you reserve the morning for scalloping as he usually catches his scallop limit early. Your family can then enjoy the rest of the day on a guided tour.
